The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to announce the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 results on June 14.
Alongside the results, the NTA will also release the cut-off marks, which are crucial for admissions into medical courses.
This year’s results will be accessible on NTA’s official website: exams.nta.ac.in/NEET-UG.
For reference, last year’s NEET UG cut-off percentage for MBBS and BDS candidates was 50% for the general category and 40% for OBC, SC, and ST candidates.
Earlier on May 5, over 24 lakh candidates sat for the exam. The answer key was made available on May 29, and candidates had until May 31 to raise objections against the provisional answer key.
NEET UG Cut-Offs: Qualifying vs. Admission
There are two types of NEET UG cut-offs – the qualifying cut-off and the admission cut-off.
Inclusion in the cut-off list is essential for admission to an MBBS course at an Indian medical college.
Admission to foreign medical colleges is based on NEET UG qualifying cut-off marks.
The NTA will determine the NEET UG 2024 cut-off percentages based on the highest marks obtained in the All India Common Merit List.
This year, a slight drop in the cut-off is expected across all categories. The anticipated cut-off ranges are:
General category: 720-130
SC category: 129-108
ST category: 128-106
OBC category: 130-108
In 2023, the general category cut-off was 720-137, while in 2022, it was 715-117.
The cut-off for SC, ST, and OBC candidates rose from 116-93 in 2022 to 136-107 in 2023.
Each year, lakhs of students take the NEET UG exam.
For those who have completed their 12th grade in the science stream, passing NEET UG is essential for admission into MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and other medical courses at top medical colleges.
Last year, the NEET UG results were released on June 13.
In NEET 2023, Prabanjan J of Tamil Nadu and Bora Varun Chakravarthi achieved perfect scores, topping the exam.
