Guwahati: Indian business magnate Mukesh Ambani and his wife, Nita, are set to attend US President-elect Donald Trump’s second inauguration on January 20.
The event is expected to draw a host of prominent billionaires, politicians, foreign leaders, and celebrities.
The Ambanis, who arrived in Washington, D.C. on January 18, were part of an exclusive group of 100 individuals who attended a private “candlelit dinner” with Trump the previous evening, according to sources.
The couple was reportedly the only Indians at the dinner, where they also met Vice President-elect JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance.
Sources confirmed that the Ambanis will be attending the inauguration as personal guests of the Trump family.
The two families share a close relationship, with the Ambanis attending several key events alongside the Trump family.
Notably, Mukesh Ambani was present when Ivanka Trump, the President’s daughter, visited Hyderabad in 2017 for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.
He also attended Trump’s visit to India in February 2020.
In a reciprocal gesture, the Ambanis invited Ivanka Trump and her family to the lavish pre-wedding celebrations for their youngest son, Anant, and his fiancée, Radhika Merchant, in March 2024.
While many wealthy donors have contributed up to $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund in exchange for VIP access, the Ambanis have received a personal invitation from the Trump family.
The inauguration is expected to be a star-studded affair, with high-profile attendees including President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former US Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton.
Other notable figures expected to be present include tech moguls Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook, and Mark Zuckerberg, as well as CEOs from major tech companies like OpenAI, Google, and Uber.
Many of these companies have made substantial contributions to the inaugural fund, with a significant focus on policies that could impact their industries in Trump’s second term.
The high-profile guest list and substantial contributions highlight the close ties between the world of politics, business, and technology as Trump prepares for another term in office.
