As the Delhi High Court began its session on Wednesday to address a petition filed by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, challenging his recent arrest, his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, released a video message asserting that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had not found any incriminating evidence against him.
In the video, Sunita Kejriwal promised that her husband would present compelling evidence on March 28 to counter the allegations.
“Arvind Kejriwal will tell the entire nation about this so-called liquor scam on March 28. He will give strong evidence also. Arvind ji is very true, honest, deshbhakt, fearless and humble person. Unki lambi aayi, sehat aur safalta ki kamna karna,” she said in the video.
Kejriwal remains in the custody of the ED until March 28, with the agency accusing him of being the “kingpin and key conspirator” of the Delhi excise scam.
Meanwhile, during the court hearing, senior advocate Avisekh Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, argued that the ED’s remand violated the foundational principles of the Constitution.
He criticised the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister as an attempt to weaken Kejriwal and undermine the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Singhvi also slammed the ED’s request of three-week time to respond to Kejriwal’s plea, as a delay tactic, pointing out discrepancies in Kejriwal’s arrest.
Kejriwal was arrest on March 21 following the High Court’s refusal to grant him interim protection from coercive action.
Meanwhile, chaos erupted in the Delhi Assembly on March 27, prompting a 15-minute adjournment, as leaders protested within the House against Kejriwal’s arrest and the ongoing legal proceedings.
