The Indian Embassy in Iran on Friday (June 13) advised Indian nationals to remain vigilant, avoid all unnecessary movements, and observe safety protocols following the launch of Israel’s strikes on the country.
Israel attacked Iran’s capital early Friday in strikes that targeted the country’s nuclear programme.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran, in an advisory posted on X, said, “In view of the current situation in Iran, all Indian nationals & persons of Indian origin in Iran are requested to remain vigilant, avoid all unnecessary movements.”
The authorities further asked the citizens to follow the Embassy’s social media accounts and observe safety protocols as advised by local authorities.
Israel launched airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear programme and military targets, codenaming it as ‘Operation Rising Lion’. The major escalation in the standoff between the two countries can spark a new war in West Asia.
Declaring the launch of Operation Rising Lion aimed at foiling Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed on Friday that his country has struck at the heart of the Islamic regime’s nuclear programme, including its enrichment facility in Natanz.
Meanwhile, Indians in Israel have been advised by the embassy to stay vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel following the launch of Israel’s strikes on Iran.
“In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indian nationals in Israel are advised to stay vigilant and adhere to the safety protocols as advised by the Israeli authorities and home front command,” the mission posted on its X handle, soon after Israel declared the launch of ‘Operation Rising Lion’ against Iran.
“Please exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel within the country and stay close to safety shelters,” the embassy advised.
