GUWAHATI: Following the ongoing protest in Bangladesh, Indian Railways has extended the suspension of trains running to the neighbouring nation.
The Indian Railways has said that Maitri Express service, which runs between Kolkata and Dhaka five days a week, will remain cancelled in the light of the recent developments.
The service has remained suspended for the last 15 days when the protests erupted in Bangladesh.
Trains between India and Bangladesh Kolkata-Dhaka-Kolkata Maitri Express, Kolkata-Dhaka-Koaa Maitri Express and Kolkata-Khulna-Kolkata, Bandhan Express were cancelled on July 19.
Similarly, Bandhan Express running between Kolkata and Khulna two days a week will remain suspended.
The Dhaka-New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka, Mitali Express was suspended on July 21 and at the rake of the train is in Bangladesh, so the train stands cancelled, Indian Railways said.
These cancellations will remain in effect until tomorrow, August 6.
