GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a detailed forecast outlining the weather patterns expected to affect Northeast till March 24.
Two significant troughs, extending from Jharkhand to south Assam and longitudinally along Long. 95°E to the north of Lat. 23°N, are set to influence the region’s weather dynamics, as per the report.
Additionally, a cyclonic circulation over east Assam and neighbouring areas has weakened, leading to adjustments in the precipitation outlook.
Commencing from Wednesday, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated across Arunachal Pradesh, with isolated areas of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura also likely to experience light rain.
Thunderstorms with gusty winds are also forecasted over isolated regions in Assam and Meghalaya.
As the forecast progresses, precipitation intensifies, with light to moderate rain expected in numerous areas of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.
Thunderstorm activity is likely to persist, particularly with heavy rain anticipated in isolated areas of the state.
Similar weather patterns are anticipated on March 22, with light to moderate rainfall forecasted in scattered regions of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
Isolated thunderstorms and lightning strikes are expected across the mentioned states on Thursday.
The trend of light to moderate rain continues on March 23 and 24, covering extensive areas across the region.
Authorities have issued cautionary alerts, highlighting the threat of thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds ranging from 30-40 kmph in Assam and Meghalaya, particularly on the first and second days.
The Department has urged the people to stay updated on weather forecasts and heed any official warnings.
