Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the Parliament House in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Conrad Sangma congratulated Nirmala Sitharaman on presenting the Union Budget for the ninth consecutive year and lauded her leadership of the Finance Ministry.
He also expressed gratitude for her continued support and sustained focus on Meghalaya’s development.
In a post on ‘X’, CM Sangma said, “Happy to call on Hon’ble Union Finance Minister, Smti @nsitharaman ji at the Parliament House in New Delhi.”

“Congratulated Sitharaman ji on presenting the Union Budget for the ninth consecutive year and on leading the Ministry with remarkable grace. I also thanked her for her keen interest in Meghalaya’s development and for her constant, unwavering support to our state,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Chief Minister also discussed various fiscal and development-related issues with the Finance Minister ahead of the finalisation of the Meghalaya State Budget for 2026-27.
“Met Hon’ble Union Finance Minister, Smti. @nsitharaman to dicuss various issues relating to states fiscal and development matters before finalization of the State budget for 2026-27. Thank you Ma’am for always supporting Meghalaya,” CM Sangma wrote in.
Earlier, Conrad Sangma said the “special thrust” on the northeast in the Union Budget for 2026-27 reflected the Centre’s resolve to make the region a growth engine of the East.
