Bravehearts of the Rifles that they call Assam

Brig. Swarn Singh of Arunachal Pradesh,

The Indian army, or perhaps its incarnations of yore, has produced several bravehearts in its glorious history which dates back to the time since gunpowder was invented.

The chequered array has seen personages of the meteorism such as K.S. Thimayya, G.G. Bewoor, K. M.Cariappa, Sam Manekshaw, B.K. Bopanna (who was Gen. Bewoor’s ADC and later accomplished himself as the gentleman and officer who not only brought normalcy to Lower Assam but waters to the Holy Saubhya Kund in Kamakhya), D S.

Hooda and even Arun Kumar Sahni who rescripted the manner in which Rangapahar’s long term vision for both the counter insurgency grid as well as the border management progression with China, Myanmar and Bangladesh.

In war only what is simple succeeds, so sayetheth Bismarck. Officers quoted above epitomises the eloquence with which military genius was elevated to an art.

From the prism of the disturbed Northeast, the Indian army and particularly the intrepid Assam Rifles role have rocked and rolled in a way that it has put insurgency in its almost decrepit foot.

One of the important waypoints for forwarding the story of success is the manner in which Brigadier Swarn Singh from his garrison in Lekhapani has decisively constructed “stops” for the nefarious invasive design’s of anti-India, inimical agencies such as the ISI-MSS chaperoned ULFA (Independent) and various factions of the fractured NSCN (Khaplang).

The officer and gentleman in Brig. Swarn Singh is unbelievable.

The expanse which he ably commands was, in the early 1990s, a grazing ground for a variety of insurgencies including the NSCN (IM) (Naya Party) and NSCN (K) (Purana Party) as also the ULFA (Independent) as it sought to criminally reach out to the oil, tea and coal belts of Upper Assam. Swarn Singh’s officers and his strategic innovations have defeated the anti-national element’s devices.

Commissioned in December 1995 into the 11 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry , Brig. Swarn Singh has moulded himself in the manner of the Indian army Greats. With celebrated tenures in High Altitude terrains and theatres in Kashmir,  Sikkim, Manipur, Assam’s Kokrajhar, the officer will continue to earn the gratitude of the people of the North East for all times to come.

Swarn Singh has become synonymous with peace and prosperity of India’s North East. A proud India salutes Brig. Swarn Singh of Jammu for his selfless service to the the enchanted frontiers.
