Guwahati: Congress Dhubri Lok Sabha MP Rakibul Hussain, along with his personal security officers (PSOs), was attacked by unidentified assailants at Rupohihat in Assam’s Nagaon district on Thursday.
According to the police, the assailants, whose faces were obscured by black cloth, ambushed Hussain while he was attending a meeting with party workers.
The attackers used cricket bats to assault the MP, and when Hussain’s PSOs attempted to shield him, they too were struck by the assailants.
The police were alerted and promptly reached the scene. Hussain was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
