U.S. President Donald Trump has stirred fresh controversy by calling for legal action against former Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of unlawfully paying high-profile celebrities for endorsements during the 2024 presidential election.

In a fiery post on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump claimed Harris shelled out “a large amount of money” to secure backing from celebrities like Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, and Al Sharpton.

“YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. IT IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO,” Trump wrote.

“Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them? All hell would break loose!”

Trump, who defeated Harris in the 2024 election to reclaim the White House for a second term, alleged that the celebrities received “ridiculous fees” disguised as payments for “endorsement” and related “expenses.”

“Kamala, and all of those that received endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted!” he demanded.

However, the Harris campaign and those named in the allegations have pushed back. Oprah Winfrey previously clarified that she “was not paid a dime” to appear at a campaign event with Harris, though she acknowledged that standard production costs were covered.

“The people who worked on that production needed to be paid. And were. End of story,” Oprah said, according to The Hill.

While the campaign denied any direct payments to Beyoncé for endorsements, Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings show a payment of USD 165,000 to her production company.

According to experts, such payments are often related to production costs for large events and are not considered political donations.

The Harris campaign has not issued an official response to Trump’s latest accusations.
