Gujarat Police have apprehended more than 200 Bangladeshi nationals over the past few days who were residing unlawfully across various parts of the state.
According to police, the legal proceedings are underway to repatriate the detainees.
Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay posted on X, “In the last 100 hours, more than 200 illegal Bangladeshis have been caught by Gujarat Police. Further legal action for deportation is under progress.”
Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi said, “Action Against Infiltrators! Gujarat Police Crackdown on Illegal Bangladeshis! In a major operation, over 200 illegal Bangladeshis have been caught by Gujarat Police in the last 100 hours! Further legal action for deportation is underway.”
“Kudos to Gujarat Police for taking strict action against infiltrators and ensuring national security,” he added.
Among those detained, 44 individuals were arrested by the Bharuch Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) from Bharuch city, Ankleshwar city, and the Ankleshwar GIDC area. These areas have previously been flagged for housing undocumented workers employed in informal sectors.
Most of the illegal migrants had settled in industrial and semi-urban zones, often working in construction, agriculture, domestic services, or small factories for low wages.
Due to significant labour demand and limited documentation checks, specific locations such as Ankleshwar GIDC, Chandola, and portions of Surat and Ahmedabad have emerged as prominent infiltration hotspots.
Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and local police have also uncovered widespread use of forged documents, including Aadhaar, PAN, ration cards, and even Indian passports, used to establish residency and secure employment.

While deportation efforts are ongoing, state authorities are also engaging with the Border Security Force (BSF) and central agencies to ensure long-term tracking and repatriation of infiltrators.
