Guwahati: Drukair Corporation Limited, the national airline of Bhutan, has announced the resumption of twice-weekly flights between Paro and Bangkok via Guwahati, along with the introduction of an additional third-weekly flight on its Singapore route through Guwahati from April 2026.

The airline said the reintroduction of the Bangkok service would restore an important regional air link that has historically supported tourism, medical travel, education and business exchanges between Bhutan, the northeastern states of India and Thailand.

Bangkok remains a major regional aviation hub with strong global connectivity, and the restored service is expected to boost tourism to the region while also supporting outbound travel for passengers from Bhutan.

The expanded operations will run on the Paro–Guwahati–Singapore and Paro–Guwahati–Bangkok sectors, further strengthening Bhutan’s regional air connectivity and providing more travel options for passengers across South and Southeast Asia.

According to the airline, the additional Singapore flight has been introduced in response to increasing passenger demand and forms part of Drukair’s strategy to expand access to major international gateways.

Singapore, one of the world’s leading aviation and financial hubs, offers onward connections to several destinations across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, Australia and North America.

The additional flights will provide passengers with greater flexibility, better scheduling options and smoother connections for both incoming and outgoing travellers.

Commenting on the development, Drukair Chief Executive Officer Tandi Wangchuk said the new services represent a key step in the airline’s network expansion plans.

“The introduction of a third weekly service to Singapore and the reinstatement of Bangkok flights via Guwahati mark an important step in strengthening our regional network. These routes align with the Government of India’s Act East Policy and also support the travel requirements associated with the development of Gelephu Mindfulness City in southern Bhutan, near the Assam border,” he said.

He added that the expanded connectivity would help promote tourism, facilitate business and educational exchanges, and enhance Bhutan’s engagement with international markets while maintaining high standards of safety and service.

The airline said the network expansion also reflects its commitment to supporting Bhutan’s economic development by improving market access, strengthening trade and investment linkages, and promoting sustainable tourism.

By positioning Guwahati as a key transit point, the airline aims to enhance regional integration while improving operational efficiency and passenger convenience.

Drukair airline will operate twice-weekly flights on the Paro–Guwahati–Bangkok route, departing Paro at 11:50 am and arriving in Bangkok at 5:25 pm on Thursdays and Sundays.

The return flight from Bangkok will depart at 7:00 am and reach Paro at 10:35 am via Guwahati on Fridays and Mondays.

On the Paro–Guwahati–Singapore sector, flights will operate three times a week—on Tuesdays (departing Paro at 8:30 am and arriving in Singapore at 4:25 pm), Wednesdays (7:50 am to 3:55 pm) and Saturdays (11:30 am to 7:30 pm).

The return flights from Singapore will depart at 6:00 am on Wednesdays, arriving in Paro at 10:15 am, and at 12:30 pm on Thursdays and Sundays, reaching Paro at 4:45 pm via Guwahati.

In addition to its international services, the airline also connects three domestic destinations within Bhutan and operates helicopter services.
