Kisama: Nagas love meat – be it the porcupine, civet cat, or the wild birds. A video on the Naga gastronomic delights have gone viral on the Instagram.

A tourist named Alex from the United Kingdom has taken the internet by storm after sharing a fascinating video of his visit to the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland.

Alex was seen standing in front of a menu of a restaurant at the Hornbill Festival, which is known as the ‘Festival of Festivals’ at Kisama in Nagaland.

He was astonished after seeing the menu of the restaurant at the festival venue. The menu had many gastronomic delights unthinkable to be served in a restaurant in the UK.

The restaurant menu had silkworm larvae, snails, spiders, grasshoppers, porcupine meat, palm civet cat meat, venison, and even game bird meat.

“This is the craziest menu I’ve ever seen in my life,” Alex said.

But for the people of Nagaland, the menu is nothing unusual. The dishes mentioned in the menu of the restaurant, is part of their regular meals – be it the lunch or dinner.

Though porcupine and civet cats are endangered wildlife species, there seems to be no restrictions on the sale and consumption of the meat of the wild animals at the festival venue.

The 10-day Hornbill Festival which begins on December 1 every year draws thousands of visitors from around the world every year with its vibrant display of tribal culture, food, and dance.

Every year, the tourist freak out on the food menu, and the traditional liquor of the different tribes.
