Dimapur: Two separate fire incidents in Dimapur city of Nagaland this week have left a large number of homes destroyed and hundreds of people displaced.

The first blaze occurred late Thursday night in Naharbari Ward-8, around 11:29 pm, where a massive fire engulfed a residential area comprising roughly 200 households.

Upon receiving the distress call, emergency services from the Dimapur Central Fire Station quickly rushed to the scene.

The situation soon escalated, and additional support arrived, including fire tenders from the West Fire Station, Chümoukedima Fire Station, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

Despite the combined efforts of more than five fire teams, the intensity of the fire made it difficult to control.

It took about 90 minutes for the firefighting personnel to bring the flames under control.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blaze, though no casualties have been reported so far.

The affected area comprises two distinct plots—one housing approximately 70 households and the other with around 150 homes.

At present, the extent of the material damage is being assessed, and officials have not yet confirmed the total value of the losses.

In a second fire incident that occurred just days earlier, on January 1, another destructive blaze hit Half Nagarjan (Kuda village) in Dimapur.

This fire destroyed four homes and severely impacted the local community.

The Central Fire Station received an emergency call at 10:48 am, and within minutes, firefighting teams from both the Central and West Fire Stations were dispatched to the location.

After more than an hour of strenuous firefighting efforts, the fire was brought under control. Though no casualties were reported, the financial loss from this incident is estimated at around INR 1.5 crore.

Like the previous fire, the cause remains under investigation, and authorities are working to determine how the blaze started.

The local community has been left in shock and distress, as both incidents have caused considerable upheaval.

Fortunately, the swift response of local emergency services helped prevent any loss of life.

However, the devastation to property and the displacement of families have raised significant concerns.

Local authorities continue to investigate both incidents to determine the causes and ensure that similar tragedies can be avoided in the future.

The fires have prompted local officials to call for enhanced preparedness and firefighting capabilities, as well as a deeper investigation into the safety of densely populated areas.

As relief efforts continue, the community remains in need of support to rebuild what has been lost.
