Kohima: The body of a 22-year-old tourist from Tripura, who had gone missing in Nagaland’s Dzukou Valley more than a month ago, was recovered on Saturday, police confirmed on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Pranab Das, a resident of the Srinagar area in West Tripura district.
Das had entered the popular trekking destination through the Viswema entry point on January 4 after purchasing an official entry ticket.
Police said the identity was confirmed through personal belongings found at the site, including the entry ticket, two mobile phones, a wallet containing cash, and identification documents.
An inquest was conducted at the spot in the presence of Kohima district administration officials and independent witnesses.
Authorities said it was too early to determine the exact cause of death. However, based on preliminary assessment of the scene and available evidence, there were no signs suggesting foul play.
The family of the deceased has been informed about the recovery of the body.
