Imphal: Security forces apprehended three suspected drug peddlers and seized nearly 10 kg of brown sugar from a farm in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, police said on Thursday.
The arrests were made on Wednesday at Alex Farm under the jurisdiction of Kangpokpi police station, they added.
Acting on a tip-off, the forces recovered around 9.8 kg of brown sugar, valued at over Rs 1 crore, hidden inside 225 soap cases, a police officer said.
The arrested persons have been identified as Veineichong Lhungdim and Thongkhopao Lhungdim, a couple from C. Munnom village, Saitu Gamphajol, and Thangminlun Haokip.
An Alto car used for transportation, a diesel auto, and four mobile phones were recovered during the operation.
Police said the accused are in custody, and an investigation is underway to identify the source and network behind the illegal consignment.
Security forces arrested two active cadres of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) from the foothills of Ngariyan Hill under Andro police station in Imphal East district on October 15, officials said.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Laitonjam Lucky Singh (32) and Soraisham Athoi Singh (42), both residents of Huikap village in Imphal East district.
Security personnel also seized two mobile phones from their possession.
