Kohima: Nagaland’s lone Rajya Sabha member, S Phangnon Konyak, has been nominated to the Court of Nagaland University by Vice-President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Expressing her gratitude, Phangnon stated that she was immensely honoured by the nomination and assured that she would actively engage with the authorities of the university in reviewing its policies and programmes in accordance with the statutes outlined in the Nagaland University Act, 1989.
She reaffirmed her commitment to work towards elevating the university’s stature through quality education, progressive policymaking and engagement with stakeholders.
Nagaland University has been instrumental in nurturing distinguished alumni. The graduates have gone on to serve the nation in various roles, including as bureaucrats, elected representatives, professionals, and influential thought leaders.
She stressed the collective commitment needed to elevate Nagaland University to the same standing as other top institutions nationwide.
Her appointment assumes significance as regional universities are currently under pressure to compete with well-established national institutions.
