Kohima: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has released the PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan (PRS) Report 2024 for Nagaland, providing a detailed assessment of student learning outcomes and school education practices across Grades 3, 6 and 9.
SCERT said on Wednesday that no district in Nagaland featured among the top-performing districts at the national level in any of the three grades covered in the survey.
The survey, earlier known as the National Achievement Survey, was conducted by PARAKH NCERT under the Union Ministry of Education. It began on December 4, 2024, to assess student competencies in language, mathematics, science and social science. The assessment covered 22,220 students and more than 3,335 teachers from 724 schools across the state.
The survey analysed performance across multiple categories, including gender, location, type of school management and social group.
At the foundational stage (Grade 3), Nagaland’s overall performance was below the national average, particularly in mathematics. Phek and Mokokchung emerged as the top-performing districts in the state, while Kiphire and Tuensang ranked at the bottom. Kiphire was also among the 50 low-performing districts nationally.
At the preparatory stage (Grade 6), students again performed below the national average, especially in mathematics, placing Nagaland among the bottom 10 performing states. Mokokchung and Phek were ranked among the top districts, while Noklak, Mon, Shamator, Tuensang and Kiphire were placed at the lower end. Noklak, Shamator and Kiphire also figured among the 50 low-performing districts in the country.
At the middle stage (Grade 9), students performed above the national average in language but continued to lag behind in mathematics, science and social science. Kohima, Mokokchung and Dimapur were categorised as top-performing districts, while Shamator, Kiphire, Noklak and Mon remained at the bottom. Shamator and Kiphire were again listed among the 50 low-performing districts nationally.
