Kohima: Over 32,000 aspirants have thrown their hats into the ring for 1,176 constable (general duty) posts in the Nagaland Police, underscoring intense competition for government jobs in the state, officials said on Thursday.
The recruitment drive began on Wednesday with rallies being held simultaneously across several districts.
The selection process opened with verification of documents, after which candidates are undergoing physical standard tests and medical examinations.
Those clearing the initial stages will advance to physical efficiency tests, including running and other endurance events, followed by a written examination to be conducted at a later date.
Officials said the district-wise recruitment exercise will continue for several days in line with the prescribed schedule and is expected to conclude on January 16.

Only indigenous inhabitants belonging to Naga tribes were eligible to apply for the posts, and the application process was conducted entirely online for the first time.
Authorities said multiple monitoring teams have been deployed at recruitment centres to ensure adherence to prescribed standards and to maintain transparency and fairness throughout the process.
Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, who also holds the Home portfolio, said the recruitment would be strictly merit-based and free from any favouritism or interference.
He urged candidates to depend solely on their preparation and performance, assuring them of a fair and transparent selection process.
