Dimapur: A 65-year-old man was arrested after allegedly driving his SUV onto railway tracks near the Dimapur Railway Station, triggering safety concerns and public outrage, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place late Tuesday night when the man, a resident of Signal Angami in Dimapur, reportedly entered the railway track with his vehicle.

Videos of the incident circulated widely on social media, drawing sharp reactions from users who criticised the driver’s actions as reckless and dangerous.
Many pointed out that the incident could have led to a major accident had a train been approaching, while others called for stricter enforcement of safety regulations and greater public awareness.
Following the incident, Nagaland Police issued a public advisory reiterating that driving on railway tracks is strictly prohibited and poses a serious threat to life and property.
Authorities warned that such irresponsible behaviour endangers not only the driver but also passengers, railway staff and vital infrastructure.
