Dimapur: The Nagaland government has signed a memorandum of understanding with public sector undertaking HLL Lifecare Ltd to roll out affordable medicine and pharmacy services across the state, officials said on Friday.
The agreement, signed by Dr Mereninla Senlem, principal director of the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, and Dilip Kumar Mishra, senior manager (RBD–North East) of HLL Lifecare Ltd, will facilitate the establishment of AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment) services in Nagaland.

As part of the initiative, HLL Lifecare will set up a central warehouse at the State Family Welfare Training Institute in Chümoukedima.
Medicines and medical consumables for Citizen Welfare Pharmacies located in government hospitals will be procured from this facility. AMRIT pharmacy outlets will also be opened in government hospitals across the state.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at ensuring the availability of quality medicines, surgical items, consumables and implants at significantly reduced prices, particularly for the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and other major ailments.
The collaboration is expected to lower treatment costs for patients and strengthen access to affordable and reliable healthcare services throughout Nagaland.
