Dimapur: Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said Nagaland is experiencing a significant shift in corporate investment, with companies increasingly focusing on advanced skill development for the state’s youth.
Speaking at the inauguration of the AI & Future Skills Centre of Excellence at the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre in Dimapur, Sitharaman said this change is reflected in two major initiatives now underway in the state: a collaboration with the Tata group in Kohima to train young people in semiconductor technology, and a partnership with the CYIENT Foundation in Dimapur to introduce AI-driven manufacturing and 3D printing.
She said these programmes are designed to prepare young Nagas for modern, technology-driven jobs and enable them to contribute meaningfully to the country’s growing tech ecosystem.
The minister noted that her visit to the state also focused on reviewing progress in India’s 112 aspirational districts and ensuring effective implementation of flagship government schemes.

As part of this effort, a credit outreach programme was held with leading banks to improve access to loans and strengthen financial inclusion.
Sitharaman said the objective of the visit was to assess the on-ground impact of various development programmes, address gaps, and reaffirm the Centre’s commitment to balanced growth across the country.
During her stay, she also met Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his cabinet colleagues to review the status of projects under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme.
Additionally, she virtually inaugurated the construction of a prefabricated multipurpose hall in Phek district and a guest house for administrative officials at Zunheboto.
