Kohima: In a significant anti-drug operation, Nagaland Police destroyed narcotics valued at over Rs 35 crore in Dimapur and Mon districts, as confirmed by officials on Saturday.
The seized contraband, which was destroyed, included brown sugar, heroin, crystal meth, Yaba tablets, bottles of cough syrup, and opium straw.
The operation was led by the District Drug Disposal Committee in Dimapur, resulting in the destruction of drugs worth Rs 34.82 crore on Friday.
In Mon district, an additional Rs 22.5 lakh worth of narcotics were also destroyed after the committee’s verification of the seized substances on January 4.
Earlier this week, a large quantity of drugs was destroyed in Baghora in the presence of the Drugs Disposal Committee.
Among the items destroyed were 1981.8 grams of heroin, 14.44 grams of brown sugar, 238.398 kilograms of cannabis, 244 bottles of cough syrup, and 335 Yaba tablets.

The estimated total value of the destroyed narcotics was Rs 5.21 crore.
This destruction is part of an ongoing anti-narcotics campaign aimed at curbing drug trafficking and preventing seized substances from reaching the market.
Additionally, in a separate operation, South Salmara Police seized 252 grams of heroin, valued at Rs 2 crore, following credible intelligence on drug trafficking activities.
