Guwahati: The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (IM) has issued a stern warning, stating that it will resort to violence if the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015, is not executed in its letter and spirit.
In a strongly worded statement, the NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah accused the Government of India (GoI) of betraying the spirit of the agreement by refusing to recognize the Nagalim sovereign national flag and constitution.
The NSCN (IM) chief negotiator said that the Framework Agreement was a “significant step towards resolving the decades-long Indo-Naga political conflict”.
However, the organization expressed deep disappointment over the Centre’s “failure to uphold the terms of the agreement.”
The statement further highlighted that the Nagalim sovereign national flag and constitution are non-negotiable and integral to any political solution.
The NSCN (IM) also proposed seeking the intervention of a third party to mediate the dispute and ensure adherence to the Framework Agreement.
The outfit made it clear that if the GoI continues to disregard the agreement and refuses third-party intervention, would resume its armed struggle to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nagalim.
The statement concludes with a call to the Naga people to remain steadfast in their commitment to the cause of Nagalim and to prepare for any eventuality.
The NSCN (IM) asserted that it is ready to defend Nagalim’s unique history, sovereignty, and territorial integrity by any means necessary.
