Nagaland launches helicopter service to boost tourism at Hornbill Festival

Kohima: Nagaland Tourism and Higher Education minister Temjen Imna Along on Tuesday flagged off the helicopter service for the upcoming Hornbill Festival 2025 from Kohima’s Lerie Helipad.

In a post on X, Temjen Imna Along said, “With the dedicated chopper service now flagged off from Kohima’s Lerie Helipad, you can reach key destinations even faster, making your Hornbill journey smoother, easier, and truly memorable.”

The service, launched by Thumby Aviation Pvt Ltd in partnership with the Tourism Department, aims to enhance tourist experiences and strengthen connectivity during the festival.

Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman IDAN Abu Metha, TaFMA Chairman Theja Meru, Transport department OSD Myingthungo Ababe Ezung, Captain Amitabh and Tourism officials were present.

The helicopter rides will provide stunning aerial views of Kohima, Dzükou Valley, and the Hornbill Festival, giving tourists a unique and memorable flying experience.

The service will operate from Dimapur Airport, Kohima Heliport, and Kigwema Heliport, with subsidized rates for both domestic and international tourists.

Tourists may also charter the helicopter for travel to various destinations across Nagaland.

Bookings can be made through the Tourism Department’s social media platforms, the Kisama information counter, the official website, and designated contact numbers.

The famed Hornbill Festival is held annually from December 1 to 10. This year marks the 26th edition of the festival.
