Kohima: The Nagaland government has suspended IAS officer Reny Wilfred following the launch of a criminal investigation into multiple allegations of sexual and mental harassment made by women employees.
The suspension order was issued on May 21 by Chief Secretary Dr. J. Alam, citing relevant clauses under the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.
Wilfred, a 2015-batch officer, was serving as Joint Secretary in both the Finance Department and the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) at the time of his suspension.
According to official sources, the move follows a complaint lodged by the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) on March 17, after several female staff members accused Wilfred of soliciting sexual favours in exchange for salary increments and employment-related benefits.
The matter has since been taken up by law enforcement authorities, with an FIR registered and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed on April 12 to handle the probe.
Wilfred has denied the allegations.
The issue has sparked concern among civil society groups.
The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has publicly called for stringent action, arguing that allowing the officer to remain in service while under serious investigation would erode public confidence and signal a lack of institutional accountability.
The suspension order designates the Personnel and Administrative Reforms (P&AR) Department at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima as Wilfred’s official posting during the period of suspension.

He has also been instructed not to leave the station without prior approval from the competent authority.
In addition to the current investigation, Wilfred is reportedly facing trial in a separate case involving the alleged molestation of two domestic workers in 2021, during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Noklak district.
The situation continues to develop as the SIT progresses with its inquiry.
