KOHIMA: The Nagaland government has relaxed the ban on single-use plastics and bottles of less than one litre till November 30, 2024, in a bid to address industry challenges and public interest.
The state government has asked all retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers who are using single-use plastics or bottles of less than one litre to sell off their existing stock in this extended period.
The government has directed all the manufacturers and suppliers to take effective steps for the collection and disposal of waste plastic bottles.
The Federation of Nagaland Packaged Drinking Water Manufacturer Association (FNPMA) may implement the buy-back scheme as proposed during the period.
The state government has instructed the Deputy Commissioners to disseminate the information to all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and village authorities, ensuring strict compliance and responsible collection and disposal of waste plastics within their respective jurisdictions.
As per the new notification, all other items and conditions outlined in the original notification dated July 10, 2024, remain in effect.

Meanwhile, a joint event was held at the Village Council Hall in Monyakshu on October 7 to declare the village a “No Plastic Zone” and launch the Green Community Club.
