Kohima: The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has released Rs 37 crore for payment of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) to ST students of Nagaland.
The Directorate of Higher Education of the Nagaland government, on March 28, informed that the Scheme Implementing Agency would soon disburse the scholarship into the beneficiaries’ accounts after completing the necessary formalities.
The agency extended appreciation towards the proactive efforts of Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Tourism & Higher Education, in coordinating with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for the timely release of the scholarship funds.
The scheme implementing agency also thanked Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Jual Oram and the Ministry officials of Tribal Affairs for releasing the sanction order at the specified time.

Additionally, the Higher Education Department has been informed that the final installment of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) Post Matric Scholarship for 2023-24, amounting to Rs 1274.01 lakhs, has been cleared and is with the Finance Ministry.
The installment is expected to be released on or before March 31, 2025.
“During the meeting on March 24, Union Minister Jual Oram assured Temjen Imna Along that the pending final installment would be released.
Notably, the Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) to ST students is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented by the state governments and Union Territory Administrations. The Scheme provides financial assistance to the Scheduled Tribe students studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary stage.
The state government and UT to which the applicant actually belongs award the
scholarship.
The scholarships are paid to students whose parents’/guardians’ income from all sources does not
exceed Rs. 2.50 lakh per annum. The Scheduled Tribe candidates who have passed the matriculation or higher secondary or any higher examination of a recognized University or Board of Secondary Education are eligible.
