Kohima: Nagaland’s Dimapur Police Commissionerate has imposed restrictions on the use of drones and remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) within its jurisdiction on January 26 as part of heightened security measures for Republic Day celebrations.
Dimapur commissioner of police Aotula T Imchen, in an order under Rule 24 of the Drone Rules, 2021, said on Thursday the areas within a radius of 2km around selected locations have been declared as ‘red zones’ (no-fly zones). The restriction will remain in force from 2am to 6pm on the day.
The areas designated as red zones include Dimapur DDSC Stadium, Chumoukedima Samaguting Stadium and Niuland public ground.
The order stated that during the specified period, the operation of any drone or RPA in these locations will be prohibited without prior approval from the competent authority.
The police commissionerate warned that strict action would be taken against individuals found violating the order, in accordance with provisions of the Drone Rules, 2021, and other applicable laws.
Imchen said the restrictions are aimed at preventing any potential security threats and ensuring the smooth conduct of Republic Day celebrations.
