Nagaland adhoc teachers suspend agitation; fixes June 30 as deadline for regularisation

The All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group (ANATG) 2015 batch has suspended their ongoing agitation, and set June 30 as the deadline for regularisation of services for 1,166 teachers.

The decision followed a crucial meeting between the Core Committee and general members of ANATG. During the meeting, the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) assured that efforts are being made to review and reconcile necessary documents, including appointment orders and sanction post numbers, which were missing from departmental records.

The Core Committee, after considering the request made by the Directorate through a letter issued on Thursday by the Principal Director, Shashank Pratap Singh, proposed to temporarily suspend the agitation. Singh acknowledged the grievances and the anxiety faced by the teachers, stating that the matter was being taken seriously at the departmental level.

The DoSE stated that steps underway to carefully examine, locate and reconcile necessary documents in coordination with the concerned authorities. It pointed out that certain key documents, such as sanctioned post order numbers, appointment orders and release orders of previous incumbents are currently untraceable.

The matter has therefore been referred to the competent authority to consider alternative measures and appropriate solutions.

However, the ANATG made it clear that the suspension of the agitation is not a withdrawal of their demand. The teachers have set a final deadline of June 30 for the completion of the regularisation process, emphasizing that failure to meet this deadline will result in the resumption of protests.

The group stressed that regularisation is crucial for ensuring job security and enabling career progression, and affirmed that it would continue constructive dialogue with the DoSE to meet all procedural requirement. Members also expressed confidence in the leadership of the Core Committee and resolved to stay united in pursuing their common objective.
