Kohima: The protest by the All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group (ANAGT) of the 2015 batch entered its sixth day on Tuesday, with the agitating teachers warning of an escalation in their movement if the state government fails to act on their long-pending demand for service regularisation.
The agitation, which began on February 4, has been continuing at Naga Solidarity Park in Kohima, where teachers have been holding daily sit-ins to press for the implementation of past assurances and policy commitments related to the regularisation of adhoc teachers appointed in 2015.
Leaders of the ANAGT said preparations are underway to launch a hunger strike as the next phase of protest if the government does not respond positively.
Around 20 volunteers have reportedly come forward to participate in the hunger strike, signalling a hardening of the group’s stand amid growing frustration.
The group said the prolonged delay in resolving the issue, despite years of dialogue, official representations and committee recommendations, has deepened uncertainty and financial insecurity for teachers who have continued to serve in government institutions without permanent status or job security.

While reiterating that their movement remains peaceful and democratic, the protestors warned that continued inaction would compel them to adopt more stringent forms of agitation.
On Tuesday, the sit-in continued with steady participation, placards and slogans demanding justice, accountability and immediate policy intervention.
ANAGT leaders also urged the government to take a clear administrative and political decision instead of allowing the matter to remain trapped in procedural delays.
So far, no official timeline or announcement has been issued by the government on the regularisation process.
The group said it remains open to dialogue but made it clear that the hunger strike would be launched without delay if there is no meaningful development, as the protest enters a critical phase with rising public attention and mounting pressure on the authorities to resolve the long-standing issue through a concrete, time-bound solution.
