Earlier this year, 15 leaders from the National People’s Party (NPP) joined the Congress in Nagaland on January 20. These leaders, including the former NPP General Secretary, resigned earlier this year to seek new opportunities for growth in their political careers.
Former NPP General Secretary L Hiketo Shohe expressed his belief in the Congress party’s ethos and principles, highlighting the need for a drastic change in the state’s politics.
He hailed the members for making the right decision and assured them of working together to strengthen the Congress party in Nagaland.
NPCC Working President Khriedi Theunuo mentioned that the recognition of Congress’s policies and programs led to their decision.
The defection is a major setback for the NPP in the region.
