Kohima: As part of the Nagaland government’s initiative to promote cleanliness and improve public spaces throughout the districts in view of the upcoming Hornbill Festival, mass social work activities were conducted across the state on Friday.
In Dimapur, the mass social work witnessed active participation from district administration, government employees, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC), Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF), colony and ward chairmen, village council leaders, school and college students, various NGOs, and civil society organizations.
Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Tinojongshi Chang expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the cleanup efforts, especially considering the adverse weather conditions. He highlighted their dedication to making Dimapur cleaner by working together to clear streets, public areas, and community spaces.
In Chumukedima, large-scale activities were carried out with active participation of the district administration, various government departments, social organisations and the local colony people.
The activities included cleaning of National Highway 29, and public areas, planting trees, and raising awareness about cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
Local volunteers, department officials, and social bodies joined hands to ensure the event’s success.
DC lauded the efforts of all participants and emphasized the importance of community engagement in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He urged everyone to continue the efforts and work together to foster a spirit of collective responsibility.

Mass social work activities were also carried out in Medziphema, Pfutsero, Kiphire, Phek, Shamator, Niuland, Jakhama, Tizit, Chozuba, Chessore, Tening, Peren, Tuensang, Longkhim, Bhandari, Mon and Zunheboto.
