KOHIMA: The Konyak Union has issued a stern notice to N Chingwang Konyak, President of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
The Union, representing the Konyak Civil Society Organizations (CSO), has summoned him to appear at the Konyak Union office in Mon Headquarters.
The Konyak Union has given him a 48-hour ultimatum to provide an explanation for his behaviour.
Failure to comply with this directive will result in “stern disciplinary action” being taken against him, as stated by the Konyak Union.

This summon comes in response to Konyak’s remarks regarding the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization’s (ENPO) decision to abstain from the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
At a campaign event for the People’s Democratic Alliance’s consensus candidate in Wokha on recently, Chingwang Konyak reportedly criticised ENPO’s stance, suggesting that their non-participation in the elections would be detrimental to their own interests.
In the summon letter, the Konyak Union highlighted his disregard for the directives issued by ENPO not to comment on the matter concerning the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT).

The letter accuses Konyak of repeatedly making unfavourable comments on the issue, despite the ENPO’s instructions.
The Konyak Union stated that Konyak’s actions not only disobeys the Konyak CSO’s authority but also shames and embarrasses the entire Eastern Nagaland (EN) community, especially the Konyak people he represents.
Furthermore, the apex tribal body slammed Konyak’s conduct as “unbecoming of a responsible citizen and a leader”, underscoring the gravity of his remarks and their implications for the community.
