Kohima: The Nagaland Congress will hold a mega rally in Kohima on October 7, with All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge set to address party workers and supporters at the Naga Solidarity Park.
State Congress president and Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir said the rally will centre around the themes of “save democracy, save secularism and save Nagaland.”
Key issues such as youth employment, entrepreneurship, good governance, and connectivity will also be highlighted.
AICC general secretary KC Venugopal and Nagaland in-charge Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka are among the senior leaders expected to join Kharge at the event.
The rally will be followed by closed-door discussions with the Political Affairs Committee, district Congress presidents, and senior party functionaries to shape the party’s roadmap in Nagaland and the wider Northeast ahead of the 2028 elections.

Jamir said the party expects over 10,000 participants at the rally and noted that other political groups might also join since the issues being raised transcend party lines.
On the proposed merger of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Jamir downplayed its significance, calling it “regional parties putting all in one basket” with little impact on Nagaland’s political dynamics.
