Kohima: The vibrant colours of Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival came alive on Kartavya Path in New Delhi on Monday, as tribal motifs and performing artistes showcased the state’s rich and dynamic cultural expressions.
The state’s tableau paid tributes to the majestic Great Indian Hornbill, which represents cultural guardianship, ecological balance, and the aspirations of a people who draw strength from their heritage.
The float was designed on the theme, ‘The Hornbill Festival – Celebrating Culture, Tourism and Self-Reliance’.
It highlighted the Hornbill Festival’s transformation into a model of self-reliant tourism, with a strong emphasis on youth empowerment, the revival of traditional skills and eco-cultural sustainability, showing how heritage-based tourism strengthens cultural identity while promoting inclusive growth.
From the Northeastern states, Assam and Manipur also participated in the tableau presentation, each highlighting distinct themes reflecting culture, development and progress.

Assam’s tableau depicted “Asharikandi – Terracotta Craft Village of Assam”, focusing on the state’s age-old terracotta craftsmanship, while Manipur presented “Towards Prosperity: From Agricultural Fields to International Markets”, highlighting agricultural transformation and global market integration.
