Dimapur: Days of relentless rainfall have unleashed mudslides and flash floods across parts of Nagaland, crippling road connectivity and sweeping away key bridges, officials said on Sunday.
Traffic authorities reported that multiple mudslides between Chathe Bridge and New Chumoukedima have blocked movement along the vital Dimapur–Chumoukedima–Kohima stretch of National Highway 29.
Though traffic has come to a halt, no casualties have been reported so far.
The swelling Chathe River, flowing above the danger mark, washed away a suspension bridge linking Chumoukedima with Seithekema, while floodwaters submerged the bailey bridge connecting Dubagaon and Khughovi village, cutting off access between the two areas.

Several low-lying neighbourhoods in Dimapur town were also inundated, damaging property and throwing daily life into disarray.
Meanwhile, landslides along the Mhainamtsii–Pimla road, an alternative route to Kohima, compounded the travel disruption.
In response, the Peren district administration issued an advisory regulating movement on the route.
Under the order, light vehicles are permitted in both directions between 6 am and 6 pm, while six-wheel heavy vehicles may travel from Pimla to Mhainamtsii between 4 pm and midnight, and in the reverse direction from midnight to 6 am.
