Kohima: With a lower number of students from the Northeast pursuing engineering degrees, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) is encouraging students from the region to sign up for the 2025 Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and consider enrolling in National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
The CSAB oversees the centralised counselling process for undergraduate engineering, technology, and architecture/planning seats in NITs and other institutes.
During a press conference at the Kohima Press Club on Tuesday, the CSAB 2025 Organizing Committee, headed by Prof. Anindya Basu from NIT Rourkela, discussed how the JEE Main exam opens doors to top engineering institutions and promising career paths.
Basu highlighted the 31 NITs across the country, which offer excellent opportunities for aspiring students.
He further emphasised that the CSAB is facilitating easier access for Northeast students by offering reserved seats, specialized counselling rounds, and multilingual assistance.

Acknowledging the unique challenges faced by students from the Northeast, the CSAB has introduced special counselling rounds designed to address their specific needs.
Additionally, the region’s growing startup ecosystem, advancements in emerging technologies like AI and machine learning, and new research opportunities are seen as vital contributors to enhanced job prospects and economic development.
CSAB 2025 aims to increase participation from the Northeast, raise awareness about the registration process, and highlight the role of JEE Main in building a skilled workforce that can drive the region’s economic growth.
