KOHIMA: The Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra, a movement aimed at banning cow slaughter in India, will reach Nagaland’s Kohima on September 28.
The Gau Pratishtha Andolan, a movement seeking to elevate the cow to the status of ‘Rashtra Mata’ (Mother of the Nation), includes cow protection in the central list of the Indian Constitution, and make India free of cow slaughter will gather momentum with the upcoming Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra.
The nationwide yatra will commence on September 22 and continue until October 26.
The Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra will see Shankaracharya and Pujya Gopal Mani travelling through all Indian States and Union Territories, installing a sacred Gau Dhwaj in each state capital.
In Kohima, Shankaracharya is expected to arrive on the evening of September 27. The next day, he will preside over the installation of the Gau Dhwaj at the Gau Mahasabha from 9 AM to 12 PM, before continuing his journey to Manipur’s Imphal.
This was informed by Brahmachari Mukundanand, a representative of the yatra’s convenor along with co-convenor Gobhakt Vikas Panti and state yatra convenor Swami Ratneshwaranand Trith at a press conference in Kohima on Sunday.
The journey will kick off in Ayodhya, where a grand Gau Pratishtha Sammelan will mark the beginning of the yatra.

The yatra will traverse across the country, culminating in New Delhi on October 26.
The main goal of the yatra is to bring together cow devotees from across India, unite them under a common cause, and reinstate the cow’s esteemed status. The movement’s slogan is: “Gau Mata, Rashtra Mata – Rashtra Mata, Bharat Mata.”
