The Union government has sanctioned an advance release of Rs. 20 crore to Nagaland as the second instalment of the central share under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to aid people affected by severe monsoon-triggered floods, landslides and heavy rainfall, the Home Ministry said on Tuesday.
The assistance, cleared by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is intended to ensure immediate relief and rehabilitation for those impacted by this year’s extreme weather events.
The ministry said the funds will help the Nagaland government respond effectively to the aftermath of natural calamities during the 2025–26 financial year.
According to the statement, the central government has so far released Rs. 15,554 crore to 27 states under the SDRF and Rs. 2,267.44 crore to 15 states under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) during the current fiscal.
Additionally, Rs. 4,571.30 crore has been disbursed from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 states, and Rs. 372.09 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to nine states.
