Kohima: The Assam Rifles recognised four individuals from Nagaland for their impactful contributions to society, fostering peace, and strengthening civil-military relations.
The ceremony, held at Kenguruse Hall of 13 Assam Rifles, saw Director General Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera presenting medals and citations to social activist K. Neingunyu Sekhose, artist Imna Yaden, and social advocates Kenei Ritse and Neiketuno Sechü.
Neingunyu Sekhose, a respected leader from Kohima, was honoured for his efforts as the former president of the Angami Public Organisation and the Northern Angami Public Organisation.
His work has played a key role in promoting peace and fostering collaboration between the Assam Rifles and the community.
Imna Yaden, a well-known artist in the region, was recognised for his contributions to music and culture.
His album Vande Mataram, released on the eve of India’s 78th Independence Day, and the theme song he composed for the Captain Kenguruse MVC Memorial Football Tournament highlight his dedication to patriotism and regional identity.
Kenei Ritse, crowned Miss Northeast 2023, has been a vocal advocate for mental health awareness, drug abuse prevention, and youth empowerment.
Similarly, Neiketuno Sechü, Miss Nagaland 2023 and a representative at Miss India Grand 2024, has used her platform to champion social causes and showcase Nagaland’s cultural heritage.

Both have collaborated with Assam Rifles on the Breaking the Silence campaign, aimed at addressing mental health challenges and promoting societal empowerment.
Lt Gen Lakhera expressed his gratitude to the honourees, emphasizing the importance of their contributions to societal progress and unity.
He underscored the Assam Rifles’ bond with the region, urging the youth to tackle pressing issues like drug abuse while drawing inspiration from the wisdom of the past to build a better future.
The event celebrated these individuals’ achievements as symbols of hope and change, reaffirming the Assam Rifles’ commitment to fostering peace and empowerment in Nagaland.
