The Assam Rifles inducted 282 recruits, including 36 female recruits, at an attestation parade conducted on Saturday at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) at Sukhovi, in Nagaland’s Chumoukedima district.

The attestation parade marked the culmination of 44 weeks of rigorous training, covering battle craft, weapon handling, jungle lane shooting, and specialization in counter-insurgency operations.

During the special attestation parade, the recruits marched with impeccable rhythm and synchronisation. The parade was led by Capt Anjali Kirola.

The ceremony also recognized recruits who excelled during training: Appu Chakma was awarded Overall Best Recruit (Best in Physical and Firing), T. Maloti Devi received Overall Second Best Recruit, and Bikash Manda was recognized as Best Drill Recruit.

Battle craft, weapon handling, jungle lane shooting, and specialisation in counter-insurgency operations were among included in the training.

Major General Jai Singh Bainsla, ADG, Assam Rifles, who was the reviewing officer of the parade, highlighted the rich legacy of the Assam Rifles, the country’s oldest paramilitary force, and its multifaceted role in safeguarding the nation.

Calling upon the newly attested riflemen and riflewomen to serve the nation with sincerity and dedication, he urged them to keep pace with emerging technologies.

He emphasised upon the growing contribution of women soldiers, who have been inducted into frontline duties since 2015 and have demonstrated exemplary performance not only in the Northeast but also in Jammu & Kashmir, United Nations missions, and prestigious Republic Day parades in 2019 and 2023.

He further noted that women have been inducted into all frontline roles since 2015.

Bainsla congratulated the recruits and their parents on the successful completion of training and wished them success and happiness in all their future endeavours.
