Union Minister George Kurian lays foundation for two key projects in Mizoram’s Siaha

Aizawl: Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, George Kurian, virtually laid the foundation stone for two major development projects in Mizoram’s Siaha district on Wednesday (July 16).

The bases for the two projects were laid under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK.)

“Laid foundation stone of Rs 12 Cr PMJVK projects in Siaha, Mizoram—a Public Market cum Multipurpose Centre & Women Facilitation Center & a Community Hall. Furthering Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s vision of a Viksit Bharat,” Kurian posted on X.

Held at the MADC Golden Jubilee Hall, the ceremonial event included virtual participation from local MLAs Dr. K Beichhua and K Hrahmo.

Siaha Additional Deputy Commissioner Abraham Beirazi Khithie chaired the function, which was attended by various officials from the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) and the state government.

The foundation stones were laid for two significant projects designed to benefit the Siaha District of Mizoram. The projects include the construction of a public market-cum-multipurpose centre and a women facilitation centre in Tipa V.

Additionally, it also includes the construction of a new multipurpose community hall.

In his address, George Kurian emphasized the Central Government’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, aiming to transform India into a fully developed nation by its 100th year of independence.

He highlighted nationwide developmental initiatives, noting significant progress in Northeastern states like Mizoram under the central leadership.

The Union Minister expressed optimism that the two new projects would greatly boost the region’s socio-economic growth, particularly benefiting women and minority communities.
