Aizawl: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has sought the cooperation of the Mizoram Police and the Assam Rifles to curb human trafficking along the India-Myanmar border, the commission said in an official statement.
NCW member Delina Khongdup visited Zokhawthar village, located near the Indo-Myanmar border, on Monday to assess the situation and review security measures in the area.
During her visit, Khongdup interacted with police officials and Assam Rifles personnel, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts to ensure women’s safety and strengthen measures against trafficking.
She also discussed initiatives aimed at promoting women’s empowerment in the border region, the statement added.

Khongdup urged the state police and the Assam Rifles, which guards the Indo-Myanmar border, to work together to prevent potential cross-border human trafficking.
She was accompanied by State Commission for Women chairperson C Zodinpuii and other officials.
