Aizawl: A Myanmar national has been arrested for allegedly killing his friend in a farm hut in Mizoram’s Kolasib district, police said on Friday.
According to police, Lalhlimpuia (54) attacked Tinchiauva (58) with a dao (machete) in a fit of rage on Thursday, inflicting fatal injuries on his neck, chest, and left arm. The victim died on the spot.
Lalhlimpuia is a resident of Pandaw village in Myanmar, while Tinchiauva hailed from Myanmar’s Mangkheng village.
The police officer said that the two had been camping at a farm hut near the Dumkhel cultivation area, about 12 km from Hortoki in Kolasib district, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bairabi police.
They had been looking after a farm owned by an Aizawl resident there for quite some time.
The two are believed to have engaged in an argument under the influence of alcohol prior to the incident, the police officer said.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team rushed to the spot and arrested Lalhlimpuia from a nearby farmhouse. The accused has been charged with murder.
