Mizoram: In one of the largest drug seizures in Mizoram to date, police have confiscated crystal methamphetamine and heroin valued at approximately Rs. 350 crore and arrested one individual in connection with the case, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The operation was carried out on August 1 by a joint team comprising personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (Special Branch) and the Special Narcotic Police Station in Aizawl.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the team intercepted a pickup truck en route to Aizawl near the stretch between Zemabawk and Seling.
According to police, the vehicle, which was transporting Mithun cattle, was hiding narcotics in a concealed compartment.
Upon a detailed search, the team recovered 20.304 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, estimated to be worth around Rs. 300 crore, and 1.652 kilograms of heroin packed in 128 soap cases, valued at Rs. 49.56 lakh.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 45-year-old B Lalthazuala of Republic Mual Veng in Aizawl, was taken into custody.
He has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
Authorities said further investigation into the trafficking network is ongoing.
