Aizawl: Mizoram’s lone Lok Sabha member Richard Vanlalhmangaiha has urged the central government to accelerate the construction and improvement of state highways under the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), emphasizing the urgency of completing these projects before the onset of the monsoon season.
The MP recently held a meeting with Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta in New Delhi.
During the meeting, he urged the union minister to take steps to ensure that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) expedites the task of repairing and improving important highways across Mizoram.
He requested that the NHIDCL focus on improving the National Highway 6/306. Richard emphasized the urgency of improving as much of the NH-6/306 stretch as possible before the monsoon.
Notably, the NH-6, a portion of which is called NH-306, is the lifeline of Mizoram, connecting the state capital Aizawl with Assam’s Silchar town.
