Aizawl: Mizoram’s lone Lok Sabha MP, Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, has urged the central government to ensure the timely release of post-matric scholarships, citing the hardships students face due to delays.
In a meeting with the Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Vibhu Nayar, in New Delhi on Monday, the MP emphasised the urgency of addressing the issue.
He highlighted that delayed scholarships often lead to financial crises for students, disrupting their education and well-being.
Vanlalhmangaiha requested the Ministry to prioritize the timely disbursement of scholarships, ensuring students have uninterrupted access to educational support.
He also called for special attention to Mizoram, given its tribal-majority population, and sought increased assistance for the socio-economic development of the state.

In response, Nayar assured the MP of efforts to expedite the release of scholarships and pledged broader support for Mizoram’s development.
He also outlined various projects and welfare schemes under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, encouraging the state to maximize their benefits.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between the Centre and the state to address educational and developmental challenges in tribal regions like Mizoram.
