Aizawl: Senior Mizo National Front (MNF) leader Dr R. Lalthangliana was sworn in as a member of the Mizoram Assembly on Tuesday after winning the Dampa bypoll earlier this month.
Speaker Lalbiakzama administered the oath during a brief ceremony at the Assembly Conference Hall, attended by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, cabinet ministers, MLAs from both the treasury and opposition benches, and MNF president Zoramthanga.
Lalthangliana, the MNF’s senior vice president, returns to the House for a seventh term.
He won the November 11 by-election by defeating Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) candidate Vanlalsailova by 562 votes, securing 40% of the total votes polled.

A former student leader and educator, Lalthangliana joined the MNF in 1986 and was first elected to the Assembly in 1989.
He previously served three terms as a cabinet minister under former chief minister Zoramthanga.
