Aizawl: A Mizo language learning centre is set to be established at Kamalanagar, the headquarters of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) in south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district, officials announced.
The decision was made following a meeting attended by officials from the District School Education Board, headmasters, and representatives of the Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union (MCSU). Rasik Mohan Chakma, the Mizo National Front (MNF) legislator from Tuichawng constituency and CADC member, was also present at the meeting.
Chakma emphasized the increasing importance of proficiency in the Mizo language for individuals seeking government jobs in the state. He further announced that he would contribute funds from his MLA quota to help establish the learning centre in Kamalanagar, also known as Chawngte. The centre aims to prepare candidates for the Mizo language proficiency test conducted by the Mizoram Public Service Commission.
